ENMMC Welcomes New General Surgeon Katherine Baugh

Roswell, NM - General Surgeon Katherine A. Baugh, M.D., has joined the medical staff of Eastern New Mexico Medical Center.
Dr. Baugh was born in Alaska and grew up in Houston, Texas. As a Texan, New Mexico seems like a natural choice for her practice. Dr. Baugh says, “When I interviewed at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center, I enjoyed the people and the community tremendously. I love the New Mexico desert and wanted to bring my services to the community.”
Dr. Baugh graduated from medical school and completed her residency in general surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Baugh also completed a fellowship in endocrine surgery at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, in Pittsburgh, PA.
Dr. Baugh will join the practice of Dr. Akbar Ali and Dr. Elias Abboud at Eastern New Mexico Medical Group General Surgery Specialists. Dr. Katherine A. Baugh is a board-certified general surgery and performs a range of surgical procedures and specializes in minimally-invasive techniques. Dr. Baugh has a special emphasis on caring for patients with endocrine disease or surgical needs.
Dr. Baugh shared, “My father was diagnosed with lung cancer when I was a child and so I saw the medical field from the perspective of the patient’s family. I saw what providers did well and what they didn’t do well. Those experiences are what propelled me towards medicine and towards the kind of patient centered doctor that I wanted to be.” Dr. Baugh enjoys getting to know her patients and talking with them about their lives which she feels helps her be a better physician.
In her free time, Dr. Baugh said she loves to hike in the mountains, desert or the beach and loves to travel to new places and explore. She is also an avid reader and particularly enjoys mysteries and learning how they unfold.
