ENMMC Welcomes New Chief Nursing Officer

Roswell, NM— Eastern New Mexico Medical Center is pleased to announce that Ronald (Ron) Childress, MSN, R.N., has been named the new chief nursing officer (CNO.
Ron began his nursing career at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, after completing an associate degree in nursing (RN) from Pearl River Community College. For the past eighteen years plus, Ron has worked in various roles at Tulane Health System in New Orleans, LA, starting as a travel nurse, then serving as charge nurse, preceptor, manager and various other leadership roles most recently serving as associate chief nursing officer. Ron earned his master’s degree in nursing administration from Loyola University New Orleans.
“Ron has strong leadership experience and a long history of experience in healthcare,” said Warren Yehl, CEO of Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. “He will help us continue to build on the firm foundation of our hospital to deliver quality, compassionate care.”
Ron has a strong connection to agriculture having grown up on a row crop, cattle, and vegetable farm in Lucedale, Mississippi. He has a master’s degree in agriculture education from Mississippi State University and taught high school agricultural science for five years prior to pursuing his dream of becoming a nurse. In his free time, Ron enjoys gardening, reading and genealogy.
