The ENMMC Rehabilitative Services staff is a team of dedicated and skilled professionals who are experts in specific areas of rehabilitation. They provide individualized care for inpatients and outpatients. The team includes physical therapists, occupational therapist and a speech language pathologist. Working with the patient and family, and the patient’s physician, the rehabilitation team provides an assessment and develops a plan of care.
Physical Therapy
Our physical therapists are health professionals who prevent, identify, correct, and hels to ease acute or prolonged movement dysfunction. The physical therapy staff evaluates the function of the musculoskeletal, neurological, pulmonary, and cardiovascular systems and treats relevant problems through exercise, functional training, gait training for ambulation, and cardiovascular endurance training.

Occupational Therapy
Our occupational therapist is a health professional who strives to improve functional independence of the physically impaired patient through purposeful therapeutic activity, exercise, and self-care retraining. The occupational therapy staff evaluates the musculoskeletal and neurological systems, including cognitive and perceptual skills, with a special emphasis on the impact of any deficits upon daily performance demands such as self-care, homemaking, and work practices.
Occupational therapy is used for a variety of disorders involving psychiatric, orthopedic and neurologic problems. Occupational therapists work with people of all ages who, because of physical, developmental, social or emotional deficits, need specialized assistance in learning skills to enable them to lead independent, productive and satisfying lives.

Lymphedema treatment for patients who have had a mastectomy, lumpectomy, modified radical mastectomy or radiation therapy

Work-related hand and wrist conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome
Speech-Language Pathology
Our speech language pathologist evaluates and treats individuals experiencing difficulties in speech, cognitive, and/or swallowing functions. The most common diagnoses seen are decreased communicative-cognitive function, dysphagia, dysarthria, dysphonia, and aphasia.
Hours
The ENMMC Rehabilitative Services department is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Special arrangements can be made for after-hours treatment.
